We asked Grace a few questions to get to know her better. 

What is your title at FAPAC and what will you be doing?

As the Communications and Marketing Manager, I will implement communications and marketing strategies to increase awareness of Foster and Adoptive Parent Advocacy Center, strengthen community engagement, support fundraising efforts, and promote our programs and services for children and families in DC’s child welfare system.

What did you do before FAPAC?

Before joining FAPAC, I worked with a local nonprofit, focusing on communications and community engagement. I also spend my weekends working at a children’s art studio, where I continue to share my passion for creativity. My professional background is primarily in communications supported by a strong arts foundation. I earned my BFA in Film and Video, which continues to inform my approach to storytelling.

What do you hope to contribute to the DC foster care system?

I hope to help broaden awareness and support for the children, families, and
communities impacted by the child welfare system. I want to uplift the voices of birth families, foster youth, adoptees, and foster and adoptive families by using my storytelling and communications skills to highlight their experiences and help create greater understanding of foster care in the District.

What motivates you?

I am motivated by the power of storytelling to build connections. I believe that sharing people’s experiences can strengthen communities. Knowing that my work can support meaningful conversations and make a positive impact is what drives me.

What do you do for fun?

I love spending time with my husband and dog. I also love crafting projects and traveling!
