AmeriCorps Member Positions
Through a partnership with Serve DC, each year FAPAC hires one to two AmeriCorps members to support in various areas of the organization. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who commits to a fixed term of service, beginning in September and ending in August of the following year. Often described as the “domestic Peace Corps,” members tackle critical challenges related to the DC foster care community.
Rather than a traditional salary, members receive a living allowance of $1,700 per month and must complete 1,700 hours of service during their service year. Upon successful completion, members are awarded the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. This award can be used to pay for higher education tuition or to repay qualified student loans.
If you are interested in serving, you must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident, and currently enrolled in college, or have recently graduated.
