Spotlight Clinton White

Spotlight Clinton White

We asked Clinton White a few questions to get to know him better.

What drew you to FAPAC?

Throughout my career in public service, including my years at USAID, I have seen how much stronger institutions become when they bring diverse voices to the table and invest in the people who carry out their mission. FAPAC’s commitment to advocacy, leadership development, and community reflects values I have carried into every chapter of my work, and I wanted to contribute to that mission in a more hands-on way.

What other work are you involved in outside of FAPAC?

I run Counselor Global Solutions (CGS), a Maryland-based consulting firm that provides government affairs facilitation, trade mission hosting, and advisory support for small and mid-sized businesses and entrepreneurs. I also work with the US Africa Trade Desk, which facilitates trade, investment, and market linkages between the United States and African markets. I also have a foundation called Counselor Global Fund.  On the creative side, I like to write poetry and do Karaoke.

What are you looking forward to the most as a board member?

Connecting people with opportunity is at the heart of everything I do, so I am most looking forward to helping FAPAC build new partnerships, expand its reach, and create meaningful opportunities for members to grow as leaders. I am also excited to learn from my fellow board members and the broader FAPAC community. Most importantly, be a mentor to the youth in FAPAC.

We asked Lynn Winston a few questions to get to know her better.

What drew you to FAPAC?

As a native Washingtonian who has watched this city grow and change over decades, the families FAPAC serves are my neighbors, my community, and my home. I was inspired by It’s genuine investment in the wellbeing of the district’s most vulnerable children and the families who step forward to care for them – which align with my personal goals of serving underrepresented populations in meaningful ways.

What other work are you involved in outside of FAPAC?

Having recently retired, I am settling into this new normal and engaging in volunteer opportunities that help others and ultimately to make the places we live and the world better places.

What are you looking forward to the most as a board member?

I am looking forward to contributing my time and talent to FAPAC’s mission to serve the district’s foster and adoptive community. Drawing from my executive experience serving the world’s most vulnerable — including
children who had no safety net, no advocate, and no voice — I am honored to bring that same commitment home, to the children of my own city.

We asked Grace a few questions to get to know her better.

What is your title at FAPAC and what will you be doing?

As the Communications and Marketing Manager, I will implement communications and marketing strategies to increase awareness of Foster and Adoptive Parent Advocacy Center, strengthen community engagement, support fundraising efforts, and promote our programs and services for children and families in DC’s child welfare system.

What did you do before FAPAC?

Before joining FAPAC, I worked with a local nonprofit, focusing on communications and community engagement. I also spend my weekends working at a children’s art studio, where I continue to share my passion for creativity. My professional background is primarily in communications supported by a strong arts foundation. I earned my BFA in Film and Video, which continues to inform my approach to storytelling.

What do you hope to contribute to the DC foster care system?

I hope to help broaden awareness and support for the children, families, and
communities impacted by the child welfare system. I want to uplift the voices of birth families, foster youth, adoptees, and foster and adoptive families by using my storytelling and communications skills to highlight their experiences and help create greater understanding of foster care in the District.

What motivates you?

I am motivated by the power of storytelling to build connections. I believe that sharing people’s experiences can strengthen communities. Knowing that my work can support meaningful conversations and make a positive impact is what drives me.

What do you do for fun?

I love spending time with my husband and dog. I also love crafting projects and traveling!
