Your mentoring journey is only a few steps away…

Why Mentoring Matters

Within 4 years of aging out of foster care:

  • 70% of youth will be on government assistance
  • 50% will be unemployed
  • 50% will experience homelessness
  • 25% will not have completed high school
  • 5% will ever earn a college degree
  • 90% will enter chronic poverty and are more likely to repeat the cycle of abuse and neglect they experienced

Career mentors provide stability and a trusted adult relationship – something many foster youth lack during critical developmental years. Mentors help teens identify strengths, set realistic goals, explore education and training options, and navigate practical steps like resumes, interviews, internships, and workplace expectations. This guidance is especially important for youth who may not have family members able to offer career advice or professional networks.
