Peer Group Training – Caring for a Child with Autism: Understanding and Easing Caregiver Stress

Presenter: Gary Shulman, M.S., Ed.
Caring for a child with Autism can bring great joy but can also be stressful at times. Meltdowns, difficulty communicating their needs and wants, stimming, school issues, difficult behaviors, problems making friends and socializing, difficulty with transitions, eating problems, stares and judgements from others in public places can all create tension and stress for the caregiver and for the child as well. This session will discuss strategies to reduce stress positively and share programs and resources so that caregivers have an arsenal of support services. Sharing is caring, and participants can all contribute their feelings, opinions, and experiences.
