Telaekah Brooks is a current foster and adoptive parent with the Department of Child and Family Services in Washington, DC. In addition, she serves as a cluster co- leader, with her partner Michelle Mays, for an additional 12-15 foster families in the District. In her other work, she is committed to the higher education of adult and minority students, as well as economic and small business development. Telaekah is a partner at Venture Philanthropy Partners. In prior roles she served as the Dean of the School of Professional Studies at Trinity Washington University, the Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs at Southeastern University, the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, and the founding executive director of the Georgia Avenue Business Resource Center.
Telaekah graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology, with a specialty in Law, Criminology and Deviance from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctorate from the Howard University School of Law.
