SUMMARY:Peer Group Training - From Chaos to Connection: Unlocking the Potential in Challenging Behavior
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Barb Clark\, Director of Training at Families Rising\nChildren and adolescents with trauma histories often have unique brain wiring and may function at varying developmental ages. Traditional consequence-based behavioral strategies frequently prove ineffective\, potentially exacerbating trauma and straining relationships between children and the adults in their lives. This session will introduce trauma-responsive approaches designed to better understand and support children with trauma histories\, fostering improved communication and stronger relationships. Strategies discussed will be particularly relevant for those impacted by in-utero trauma\, such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)\, as well as trauma experienced post-birth. Specific behaviors like raging\, lying\, and stealing will be addressed with practical techniques. This session aims to shift perspectives and equip participants with tools to transform chaos into connection. \n>> Register

SUMMARY:Christmas for Kids in Foster Care
DESCRIPTION:We host a holiday event each year for several hundred children and families in foster care who have been separated from their siblings. During this heartfelt reunification event\, every child who attends receives a gift and enjoys reconnecting with family through fun activities\, pictures with Santa\, and a great meal. Please support our efforts to bring families together by hosting a gift drive or donating to help us reach our goal of 300 gifts and $30\,000. Contact us at info@dcfapac.org for more information. FAPAC is a 501C3 charity organization. All donations are tax-deductible. \n>> LEARN MORE
